Matheran Weather

Nestled at the elevation of about 800 meters above the sea level in the Sahyadri Mountain Ranges, Matheran; a splendid little hill station of Maharashtra enjoys cool and pleasant climate all round the year. The weather remains less humid, more favorable and totally salubrious during the entire yearly seasonal cycle and Matheran proves to be the most archetypal getaway during the hot months of summer. The three main seasons of Indian plateau i.e. summer, monsoon and winter are experienced at Matheran.

Summer

In Matheran extends from March to May when mercury usually oscillates between 22°c and 32°c. The temperature at no time crosses the limit of 32°c and the atmosphere remains significantly gratifying and complaisant all through the season. Summer is considered to be the best time of the year for sight seeing, trekking, jungle trails and other adventure activities at Matheran. Notwithstanding the summer days being amicable and cheerful, the summer nights sometimes turn quite cold and chilly. Due to this reason the tourists are advised to carry a light woolen garment even though paying a visit to Matheran in summer.

Monsoons

In Matheran sets in during the month of June and wears the coronet of sovereignty till September. During this time period Matheran receives heavy rain showers and the entire terrain turns exceptionally vivacious and resplendent due to the freshly growing foliage. The glory of Matheran forests multiplies during this season as the fortifying rains infuse life in every façade of nature. Though, the heavy rains sometimes block the roads which results into the termination of all kinds of transport. Even the Matheran Toy Train is stopped temporarily due to the safety issues. Sometimes the heavy rains could spoil all the outing plans so the tourists are advised to visit Matheran during monsoon only if they love rains and are looking forward to enjoying the drizzles of the highland.
